I realize that doesn't mean much IF he can win that slot role. But what his gunner performance showed was a guy who lacked strength and sort of got washed out way too much.
And btw that might factor in to the slot role. Remember... Staley played Ramsey in the slot in part to boost the run defense because Jalen's like an ILB in his strength and tackling ability. This insinuates that a guy like Burgess might be preferred there to boost the run game, that is if Morris has a similar bent of mind on it.
But when I imagine Long in the slot I see teams putting a more physical wideout in the slot to match him up. And I don't think he adds much vs the run game. So no idea what the plan is but Long being forced out would not be a huge surprise. For the record I see him making this roster though. He's been on the field and not really distinguishing himself but he's been on the field and that counts.
