Good question. Since I live in the land of the Lions I did a quick search and found this:
[
detroitsportsnation.com]
The link above said that Stafford led magnificently by example but didn't kick other guys in the butt when they needed it.
Another article said that his biggest weakness was "consistency."
Another article said, "mechanics" meaning his throwing techniques change when he freelances.
I have watched a lot of Lion's football games and I've seen Stafford look horrible at times. I think it was because he was trying to do too much all on his own. Plus, he's had the hell kicked out of him a few times; he's taken a lot of beatings and that has to affect a guy psychologically. Plus, he's had some real bad head-coaches. That too has got to have been a negative. Patricia was actually worse than I expected. Several years ago I told my Lion's friends that Stafford should just retire while he still had his health. I was worried that he'd take one more bad shot and end up permanently damaged.
Good post. Thanks. It's nice to hear from someone who knows Lions football.
I think the "pressing to make plays when things are all on the qb" point is an interesting one. In LA, though, he will have a running game and a defense so it's not as much up to him.
