This is the first line of the article: "The departure of Austin Blythe in free agency left a gaping hole in the middle of the Rams’ offensive line."
I would phrase it differently, perhaps something like this:
The emergence of Austin Corbett as a legitimate option at center allowed the Rams to upgrade that position and part ways with the underwhelming Austin Blythe.
The problem is, that's not exactly what happened. The Rams offered Blythe more than the Chiefs did, and Blythe just opted to sign with KC instead of LA.
So it's more like, Blythe turned down the Rams, who then moved on to the next guy up, who was Corbett.
Agreed. It appears to me that Option A was to bring Blythe back at the right price but he was no where near a must have. If he decided to move on they had no problem quickly moving to option B with Corbett at center.
