Snead is a home run hitter. He doesn't have the patience to win with pitching and singles.
He has said so for some time now. He sees 1st round picks not as players, but as poker chips.
He believes it is better to spend those chips on more sure things that have played in the NFL, than in total projections called draft picks.
He believes that you can take guys in the middle rounds, and give them a couple of years to develop, and turn them into very good players if you understand that's the goal. But...... as he says..... the Rams have a "teaching hospital" approach. So that means you must have coaches that are first and foremost good communicators and good teachers in order for this approach to work.
We can argue for this approach or against it. But it is how it is done on the Rams.
