When the Rams lost Cooks, they lost the ability to threaten deep. McVay wants the defense to have to account for someone who can take the top off. Adding Jackson gives him that dimension again. But due to his recent history Jackson cannot be relied upon to play the full schedule. IMHO, that was the primary reason for drafting Tutu. If/when Jackson misses time McVay will still be able to attack the way he prefers.
I have heard this argument many times on this board. I am just not sure I agree. Brandon is a good deep threat that is to be sure but I maintain the thing that took away the explosiveness of this offense was the loss of elite level TG3. If Todd would have stayed Todd then I don't know how much we miss Cooks, when Todd went from ? to MIA this offense took a turn for the worse. It just also coincided with the loss of Brandon. This year people will say DJ and Tutu are the reason that the offense is more explosive but if it is I feel it will probably be more about Stafford and the ascension of Akers.
