I don't think the Rams will do that. But I also don't think anyone else in the NFL will, either. (What's the going price for a guy with 5 or 6 starts at LT over 4 years who has also missed 16 games the past 2 seasons?)
Here's the concern. In effect, the Rams future at LOT rests with a guy who no one is willing to pay standard 2nd contract money? And it's LOT.
He had enough starts so that it's clear who and what he is. If he was worth that investment, someone would pay it. That's true of qbs, edge rushers, and LOTs. If he doesn't get standard LOT 2nd contract money, that will be because no one thinks he is worth that.
The scenario I don't see is one where he is a top, effective LOT, and just no one managed to notice.
