Any lawyer that waits until the very last day to file is behind the ball and has given the defense a tremendous advantage in its preparation. Thus it was not surprising that AD retained a lawyer immediately as well to get his side out to the public. No matter what side your on "if you snooze you lose". I do think its reasonable to question going to the public with your theory but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if a well known figure was on the other side. Very good trial lawyers often call press conferences to get there story out to prospective jurors. And these same very good attorneys, will do precisely what this attorney did upon discovering the actual facts. And do it in public precisely because he or she went to the public initially. AD deserved the apology and he deserved it in public.
