I feel like Snead tends to give up more than McVay in interviews and pressers IMO. But he's never going to really say what they think. At this point I'm sure he's willing to let media make their own storyline on it, i.e. that the Rams were really interested in him. But they weren't and the reason is he cannot control his assignment. That leads to big plays for the defense.
In today's league if you give up let's say 3-5 extra stuffs of your run game and let's say 5-7 extra pressures on your QB due to one player, those are big runs or big plays in the passing game that don't happen. Not having a weak link is the key when you're building a team with the Rams' approach. They need JAGs with all these stars. They need young players too. But they can't have guys who cannot control their assignment.
Like I mentioned in the other thread Jourdan got this wrong for one reason: she doesn't watch the film. When I say that I always feel kind of like a jerk but I don't mean that in a talking down way. Most media types don't watch film. If she did she would have read through the Rams' typical fluffy comments on Blythe.
Bottom line here is the Rams do NOT lose good players who are affordable. They have a good eye for talent IMO. Only good players they lose are guys who get paid. And those they plan for. Johnson being an obvious recent example.
