They can't sign an expensive FA...

I haven't looked at the cap recently to check but what about using Whit's 2022 money on the LT position? This is assuming Whit retires.

Maybe in this scenario they could sign someone.

2022 they are (as of now) nearly 1 M over the cap though they do save 13 M if Whit is gone.

Thing is though a good LOT would cost about that anyway so they would need a lot more to cover that kind of FA (if there even is one) and also pay for the draft, the practice squad, and have an injury cushion for the season. Along with that, they also have to consider signing at least one of the following UFAs: Joseph-Day, 2 different ILBs (Kiser Young), 2 different OL (Corbett Noteboom), and D. Wms. Plus there's the fact that they were lucky to get Whit--quality LOTs are just not that commonly available in free agency.

I don't think you enter a season blindly hoping there will be a quality LOT free agent and even if there were that you could afford him.

Extend (2 years, 22 million or something) Noteboom and intend that he starts
