"... but the defense didn’t improve at any position."

Comments like this discount the improvements players can make from one year to the next. Will Williams in his 4th year (2nd as a starter) be better than the 2020 version? How about Floyd in his second year in the Rams' system? Last year's rookies - Burgess, Banks, Fuller, Hughes, Lewis, Reed, and Rozeboom - shouldn't they as a group show more this year? Same for 2nd year players Copeland and Moncrief, perhaps even 3rd year pros Gaines, Gervase, Hollins, Long, Rapp, Reeder, Scott, Joseph-Day, Kiser, Lawler, Obo, Young. ......

How similar and how different is this defense going to be this year with Raheem Morris leading the way? I imagine it will be different and cause a learning curve with the players. I figure this because many people who take over a position tend to do things "their" way.
However, this is from an article after Coach Morris was hired, which to me makes sense...

The Rams are going to "look like a 3-4 base team," as in, a three down linemen, four linebackers alignment, but won't strictly be that for their base scheme.
"When you go into your sub-packages, which the league has kind of developed into, you see a lot more four-down fronts," Morris said.

So I will be curious if he truly stays with that approach.

I wonder with the additions on the offense, if the mentality of Coach McVay is to make the opposition one dimensional.....
