They started out so well together. Two years of excellence with an unfortunate SB ending (if only Gurley and Kupp had been full strength for that game. If only....)
These last two years I really don't understand. I could chalk up 2019 to a variety of issues, but a successful FG in Seattle would have possibly taken that year out of the enigma range and into another good year. One missed FG.
But something, really something, did happen at the end of 2020. McVay lost his patience, but it is possible he had good reason to. I don't know and I'm not an insider or football god to even figure it out. All I know is something happened between those two and McVay wasn't going to take time to work on it, if he even thought it would be possible to fix.
His fix obviously was Stafford.
It will be interesting to see if Goff works out for Detroit. In a way I hope so. They have been a down and out franchise for too many years. Their fans deserve better.
First, I deliberately wasn't discussing Goff in most of this thread. Just discussing the fact that often you have to trade up for a qb because the alternative is nothing. Though I was deliberately avoiding mentioning Goff (except just to say tp another poster that he and I would always disagree on that issue). These other 2 guys got nasty because they did not notice I wasn't discussing Goff so they went into flame post mode...but with them I stuck to my guns--what I was discussing was the general claim that trading up for qbs does not work. Teams do it because they have no choice.
But you brought it up and I know you won't go into flame post mode....so okay. But I am still going to stay out of it. I've posted plenty on this. No disrespect meant but I am going to pass this time.
