He needs to be a solid TE2. Good point about his dad being Brad Hopkins, a very good 13-year NFL LT, and hopefully he is getting some good home tutoring on blocking techniques. Hopkins is clearly a guy who falls into that group of rookies whose development was probably hurt by having no real offseason, camp and preseason last year. So there is a great opportunity presumably for him to make some big strides in year 2. Maybe he can be this year's SJD?
But as far as the passing game what the Rams really need more of at TE is Higbee. I'd like to see his targets go back up from 60 to more like 90. Stafford targeted his primary TE last year (Hockenson) 101 times. Hopkins maybe 35-40 targets, 25-30 catches.
I suspect that Stafford is just what the doctor ordered to turbocharge Higbee’s production. Will help Hopkins immensely, too, if the kid earns his targets.
