I like what our front office is doing even though I get mad at the dead money, I just wish they would have over paid for Sammy. Brandon Cooks was nice but Sammy was fast and physical, and you had to allow for that too when attempting to defense him. I believe if Sammy was still a Ram, Goff would be too. Cooks was a great deep threat but he was not physical, he was no chicken but Sammy scares people as a receiver and a ball carrier and it showed when he was on the team, he was a physical receiver. The field shrunk after Cooks left thereby making Goff's reads harder. Goff is not stupid, he just process' his reads slower and with no Gurley and no Sammy the field got really small.
The Sammy Watkins decision was a mistake IMO. They should have just paid him the $16M.
Instead, they decided to skimp on that $1-$2M which forced them to trade #1 for Cooks and give him $17M. Once you factor in draft picks and money, it ended up costing them more to hold out.
