The article says that maybe he gives them about 250 snaps in 2021. I think that's a reasonable goal. He played 124 this year in 8 games (15.5/game). Now I do think they can work with him on whatever his issues are in a full offseason and help him in ways they couldn't after the Draft last year. Most rookies were training on their own and in their own homes until late July... But is he going to become some every-down OLB playing 50-60 snaps? No way. I would say try to get 13-14 games and 18-20 snaps/game from him.
But it does also raise the overall issue of snaps at Edge that they have to backfill. Floyd and Ebukam combined for 1,279 snaps last year. That's a lot to make up for (let alone Floyd's production) and Lewis playing ~100 snaps more in 2021 is a pretty small piece of that. Maybe Hollins plays 50-100 more snaps. Does Okoronkwo play a little more? Maybe.
This team has a BIG hole at Edge... Ryan Kerrigan? Another similar vet? 2nd round pick? All of the above?....
I don't see a way that they don't bring in a vet at Edge. Either they resign Floyd, which I think will be their biggest priority, or they bring in a recently cut vet on a short term contract.
Von Miller
Chandler Jones
Preston Smith
Devon Kennard
All of these guys are expected to be cut. I can see the Rams picking one of them up on a 1 year contract and creatively structuring it like they did Floyd.
