BonifayRam on deep threat WR’s...

February 08, 2021 05:58PM
Here’s BonifayRam...

I realize this thread is about possible receivers for the Rams to consider this offseason. But presently there are no salary funds to acquire such talent. So my small brain diverts to take a look deep into what Snead & Mcvay have under contract now first.

Rams do have a number of receivers that we as fans have never seen play or seen utilized as a deep threat.

Van Jefferson has not been involved with many deep passes for obvious reasons. But it has been reported by numerous pre-draft & post draft articles that Van Jefferson has excellent deep speed which is very deceptive. Rams utilized a 2nd round selection on him last season & barely used him with Goff. It could be a difference between night & day with our new QB. I know this has been brought up before but I throw it out again:
At the Senior Bowl, he was clocked as the fastest receiver at 21.05 mph, and this is faster than Denzel Mims (20.26 mph), who ran a 4.39 40 at the combine. The great thing about this comparison is that it is a measure of speed with the pads on and also with the mental processing complications of a play on the field.

Triston Jackson is totally unknown but we do know that he can run a 4.5 in the 40 & a serious vertical leap of 36 inches.

Nsimba Webster is known to us & has been seen in the 2019 pre-season. He does have very good speed & knows McVay's system very well. Webster is not very tall & only 180 but he ran a 4.4 forty consistently & a 6.7 3 cone at Wash.

J.J. Koski is also a brand new Ram who none of us has seen play in a Ram uni. I have read that he has elite speed, route running talents change of direction is perfection.

Brycen Hopkins- Much more receiver than TE & the ability to stretch the field vertically.

Question. Why couldn’t Stafford make hay with one of those existing WR’s?
