I'm sure McVay knows Stafford's capabilities more than most of us and I'm sure he's watched hours and hours of tape and sees Stafford doing things that he wants and requires in a QB, that may not necessarily translate into stats.. things that Goff was not doing.. That's my hope, anyways..
