Snead's aloof comment is tricky. If he says "He is our guy" while knowing the trade is imminent than that would be seen is disingenuous at best. Snead did not bad mouth Goff, he simply stated the facts best he could without tipping his hand or lying. I don't fault him as much for this anymore.
I still think things could have been handled a little better, but I also think they were not as bad as I originally thought and there are definitely other factors at play.
Snead came across as disrespectfully snickering at the question. I was shocked by that.
The issue isn't having to lie--that has nothing to do with it.
The player did not know he was on the trade table--he found that out through the news. And you don't have to lie if you are doing the respectful thing and at least telling the player that a lot is happening right now, his position is in question.
All Snead had to say was a lot is going on, and it's wrong to comment on it now.
Instead of making jokes while the player is finding out the team is shopping him by hearing it on the news.
IMO that part of it was handled far worse that it should have been.
In terms of the actual issues having to do with qb play and trading him and so on, who knows--we don't know the full or real story. But just on the face of it, trades are part of the business. And every decade the Rams trade away or let walk a starting qb, why should this decade be any different.
