I think this hire is about letting McVay get back in the lab and do just that and let Raheem run the defense, kinda like what he did when he brought in Wade.

Problem is, playcalling doesn't all come from the lab, a lot of it comes from in-game sense of the situation and instincts. I don't think you can develop those except by doing it, and if you have problems in that area (and he does) it could be you never fix it, you're just always who you are. If McVay has a flaw--besides the fact that he stresses out--it might be that he is a chalkboard guy and doesn't have the
feel for the game as it's happening sense that great playcallers have.
And to be honest I doubt he spent that much time on the D with Staley. If that's true then hiring Morris doesn't give him more time.
