McVay got Phillips...Young kid goes and gets a very well respected DC in Phillips to help him turn around the Rams.
McVay...Hits the road to go find the unknown "Wonder Boy" Staley. Loses him after 1 year because he got a HC gig.
McVay...Hires Morris...An ex HC/DC/OC/WR/DB coach with TONS of NFL experience...Probably brings a few coaches with him to add to Rams staff...Now, it's a bad hire.
Rams have the players on DEFENSE to make most coaches look very good. I like the hire. I bet STALEY's Chargers will be nowhere near as good on Defense.
Don't get me wrong, Morris appears to be a very smart guy, and I have no doubt he will produce a solid defense. AD alone almost guarantees that. Obviously we will need more information as to what kind of defense he will run before drawing some conclusions. However, until that time there are some questions that leave me uneasy. Will he go 4-3, and if so, how will he plug in our players, or change the roster lacking cap space? Will Ramsey be happy knowing that he didn't enjoy this cover scheme when he played for the Jaguars? Why did Dante Fowler disappear playing under Morris? Why, given his qualifications has he only been an NFL DC for only 1 year?
Until we know more, it currently feels to me like an awkward fit.
