As to your question about type of DC I would prefer?
Why break the mold? Hire another young and aggressive Staley type. One whose scheme philosophy is compatible with the players Staley has already brought in. No 4-3 type DC’s need apply, IOW, nor would any older faded retreads, either. Fortune favors the bold here as the wise men have said.
Only thing about this type of DC is that he will probably be poached away in a year or two. The rest of the NFL recognizes a quality training ground for coaches when it sees one. But that’s a champagne problem, huh?
