but yeah they implemented the quick passing game to take the heat off of them for sure

the deep routes were still in the passing game but Goff just wouldn't pull the trigger on them regardless of the time he had (I think we need to look here to explain McVay's annoyance with him)

I agree regardless of what the Rams do with the QB they need and can upgrade OC. IMO they need to target Linsley the OC from the Packers. If you get a chance rewatch Saturday game and you will understand why

Just to put this into perspective PFF ranked the Rams oline 31st last year. So there are people on this board that say they don't like PFF but used them last year to say the Rams oline was horrific (and it was not good last year especially in those first 8 games) This year there was a tremendous improvement in the oline on both fronts. Whits injury obviously hurt them down the stretch

i dont have a quantitative assessment of this and im not sure you can but anecdotally i feel the oline has some issues and it is linked to the inability to go deep this year. to me the offense ran fine as long as we were in manageable down and distances. and they did that for the most part which is why the rank is high. but when they got a penalty or a sack and had to play behind the chains, the oline could not protect goff long enough to push the ball downfield (as evidenced in the final drive of the gb game). personally i think mcvay knew this and protected the line with the run and the short passing game. in order for goff to be effective imo he needs protection (like brady). i dont see goff going anywhere so id like to see some more investment on the oline this offseason. i think center may be my #1 priority.
