I think some people are still operating as if Goff is a top 15 QB rather than the bottom 1/3 QB we have seen the last two and quarter years

We already have 2 young back-ups on the roster. Minshew is a career clipboard holder - how is he better than Wolford? Or are you saying he's better than Goff? Which he is most certainly not.
I skeptical that the Rams are going to be able to get someone BETTER than Goff this year. The only path I see to an upgrade is trading for Watson which is remote at best.
But they may be able to get someone who is a much better value than Goff. A Minshew or several other options may be able to provide 95% of what Goff does for about 20% of the cost. The additional savings can be used to build up the team in other areas.
As usual, people typically underestimate the head/mental aspect of being a QB and overestimate the arm talent. And you definitely get more mobility with Minshew.
I think he would thrive in McVay's offense.
