McVay is down after losing. He hates to lose. He's an emotional guy; he's not Bellicheck in that regard. So whatever he said has to be taken in that context and in the freshness of that loss.

Yet, there is no doubt in my mind that he is not convinced that Goff is his guy. And I suspect that what goes on behind the scenes, in meetings and on the practice field, have as much to do with what he's thinking about Jared as what we see happen during games.

McVay expects to win every game. I think he was totally honest when he said he fully expected to win and then watch TV and see who their opponent would be.

I didn't see any lack of maturity at all. I didn't see any testiness. I saw frustration with losing in GB. I'm sure he'd rather not have to do that video conference because he already knew the kinds of questions he'd be asked, and then asked again, and then asked again.

He's had, for him, 2 disappointing seasons in a row. And I think he is simply in an analyzing mode to determine where the problem lies. As he said, he must step back and give time for the dust to settle before he can analyze in a logical way where emotions are set aside.

When I add up things he's said in prior game interviews plus this conference, clearly he is not liking what he's seeing at the QB position. When I look at his personality and temperament I think he's looking for a play maker not a care taker. He wants to see something other than he's seeing in Jared. I think he wants a QB that can not only carry a team if he has to, but also inspire his team.

But in the end, doesn't every team want that? Getting it is very hard to do, and there are darn few human beings in this world that can play and inspire as well as Brady, Rogers, or Breez.
