I think McVay neutered him.
I think Goff never really had it in him.... The guy played high school in Marin County for a Catholic school. You want a guy who has shown he can win at every level and has led come back victories in college. Look at Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady....those guys won games in college leading their team from behind....
Goff is a nice guy....Nice guys finish last....Both Aaron Rodger and Tom Brady have this arrogance that elite QBs have...that pissed off look that demands respect from teammates in that huddle in the 4th qtr..... keeping guys focused on the prize.
I just don't see that in Goff. I see that deer in the headlight look from Goff that I see in guys like Sam Bradford. The look of fear and basically ready to fold and take the "L" look.
Rodgers is definitely arrogant, Brady? I would say he's very intense. When I see Brady on the sideline, he's normally sitting with his helmet off and looks very disappointed or upset if his team is losing and isn't talking to anybody. He looks preoccupied with what he's going to do on the next series. When I see Goff on the sideline, he's got that nonchalant or daydreaming look like he's thinking about the newest Playstation 5 game or hanging out with his buds on the Beach.. Goff is very laid back, I see no intensity in his eyes.
Personally, I don't think you have to be arrogant, but you do need hyper focus, intensity. and Command the attention of teammates. Rodgers gives his players that look like "Dude, what route were you running?" and that's his way of making them focus on their assignments.
Goff needs to improve his command on the field and set the bar high for everyone on the O.
What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women.
