I never saw any final OL rankings posted by PFF or FO and I was curious about how good the Packers OL was. Well, per PFF, they are the 2nd best in the league.

Scary stuff! Especially since our DL needs to dominate them if we hope to win on Sunday.

Take a look at the rankings. You'll be very surprised where the Rams OL ranks.

Surprising indeed. Seems our (and my) eyeballs tell a different story.

Yeah, my eyeballs too. But there's several reasons I consult metrics in addition to my eyeballs.

First, my eyeballs don't see enough other teams to make an accurate comparison. Just because our OL gives up X amount of pressures and sacks, how do I know that other teams on average aren't giving up much more? Secondly, it's human nature that negative plays tend to stick out more. We remember them longer. So if we only go by our eyes and by extension our faulty memories, we don't get an accurate picture.

In terms of pass rush, PFF has us 9th in number of total pressures allowed and 6th in their OL Pass Blocking Efficiency metric.

We were a better at run blocking which is how the OL ended up ranking 3rd overall.

Could bias have gotten in the way of facts?
