A writer says something we don't like and doesn't fit our views, so we find ways to dismiss said writer.
He;s a professional journalist. Any minor ties he has because of going to the same university don't over-balance that.
It's more likely that the ones dismissing his account of things are the ones falling for a bias.

Wasn't dismissing his opinion. I do think his history with Goff colors his views.
I don't. For one thing he doesn;t have a "history" with the guy, they just went to the same school. For another I don't think that a good writer is soft and petty enough to let going to the same school mean anything in terms of what he writes and puts his name behind. If you can count on one thing with a guy like Silver, it's fiercely selling his reputation--it's like money in the bank. You don't sell that short just cause your diploma has the same seal on it.
