Re: question about establishing the run

I get that establishing the run is important so that isn't my question. It's this: is establishing the run important so you can make the defense play 8 or 9 guys in the box (with the result being that the passing game opens up)?

If the answer is 'yes' then I have a follow up question: If the defense comes out aligned with 8 and 9 guys in the box haven't you already accomplished your goal?
