turnovers a far bigger issue

January 04, 2021 06:26AM
I think it is much more about turnovers than redzone performance. The only year under McVay they have been top 10 (5th) in redzone scoring was actually last year. They've been 14th or worse the other 3. I'm OK with more 3's than we might like, but not turnovers in the redzone. And not with turnovers in general. Without two turnovers yesterday the Rams probably win that game by 20.

I would even put special teams above redzone offense. We seem to have solved the kicking problem which is great but the Rams All-Pro punter had the worst year of his career this year, coverage units were poor and turnovers seeped in there too.

The Rams did have those maddening back-to-back redzone false starts yesterday. But overall? 2nd least penalized team in the league this year and in general McVay's Rams teams have not had a ton of penalties.
