Who are you pointing the finger at?
First, a lot of us don't "blame" or "point the finger," we try to analyze and get a full complete picture.
"Blaming" is just emotion.
A lot of us swear and kick and feel bad while they are losing the game, but then afterward, can step back from that to try and have a clear picture.
And a clear picture does NOT reduce to "who do you blame the most."
The better question IMO is "what went wrong" and it rarely has one answer.
* Goff did not have a great game but he played well enough to win and certainly better than (according to one opinion) he is supposed to play under those conditions. He faced a Miami game/ 2nd SF game situation but did not press and make multiple huge mistakes like in those games.
* OL got battered and allowed pressure for much of the game but they did enough in the end to pull out a win if other things had gone well. The worst thing here was the late penalties. Including one that subtracted a score.
* The defense did not live up to its billing. Classic example--Jets first TD. That was a huge communications error, of the kind we saw with 2 3rd and 16s in 2018 and at the end of the game against the Bills in 2020.
* When was the last time Rams had a punt blocked.
* The last 2 plays I mention--the Jets first TD, the blocked punt--account for 10 points right there.
* McVay's Rams have now come into 3 games underprepared and under-energized against an opponent they apparently did not take seriously enough--1st SF game, Miami game, Jets game. The announcers (quite rightly) talked the entire 1st half about the Rams lack of focus and lack of energy. You have to start to wonder if this is a McVay fault--his teams don't always come to play and will take some teams lightly. If that's true (and I think it is) it starts with him to fix it.
