I know this wasn't directed at me but I think the big difference this week is that Blythe, the subpar OL, and Goff are the reason this team can only score 20 points against the hapless Jets.
And why did the hapless Jets and the league's 32nd ranked offense score 23 points against the league's 1st ranked defense?
Man, the one-sided viewpoints are sure mounting up today.
...
No question, the D was awful. My viewpoint already accounted for all sides when I said above: "Of course the defense was bad too so it was an all phase failure but long term the most concerning thing to me is what this game says about the state of the offense."
I'm a big picture person. I'm always focused on the future. I'm already over this loss. I don't usually get caught up in one or two plays - was this the right call? Who's to blame for the bad 4th and 4? I'm generally looking at the offense, the defense, the QB, the OL, the coach, and coming from the standpoint of what is it all saying about our chances of winning in the future. So my posts are almost always about the big picture, not just the immediate game.
So on this game, yes, the defense blew it. @#$%& happens! You wash your hands and move on. I have confidence that they will perform up to their top 5 standards next week and the week after.
The offense, OTOH, is very concerning to me. I don't have confidence on a week to week basis that they're going to play great. This is why I'm much more concerned and prefer to discuss the offense scoring 20 rather than the defense giving up 23.
They're both bad! But for the defense, this game was an anomaly. For the offense, it's a pattern. I like to discuss patterns, not anomalies.
