2001 SB - Remember Martz ran Faulk for 160 yards against the Eagles to win the NFCCG. So as rare as it was for him. He would do that every once and while. He could have done the same in the SB against the Pats and Belichick basically dared him to do it and he refused.
2018 SB - The Rams turned to CJ Anderson and 2 TE sets down the stretch and absolutely destroyed Arizona, SF, and Dallas in the divisional round of the playoffs on the ground. In the SB they went right back to their 3 WR sets exclusively. The Pats installed that 6 wide to take away that outside zone and the Rams did not or would not run any other types of runs. Very similar to what we saw with them prior to Thursday night.
It’s going to be critical for McVay to be flexible and prepared to make changes in game if necessary if the Rams are going to make it as far as we think they can.
