The biggest problems I see with being the #5 seed instead of #2 or #3:
- Another 3,000 mile road trip.
- The first round playoff game will be Jan 9 or 10 ... in NY or Washington. Potential weather issues.
- Beat the Giants or Washington and the next game is also on the road, most likely at the #1 seed. And they have a bye the first week.
As the #2 seed the Rams would be home for both the first and second round.
As the #3 seed they would be home the first round for sure and could also be home in the next round if the #2 gets beat. (As is stands today the VIkings (#7 seed) would have to beat the Packers (#2 seed) for the Rams to host their round 2 game. I could handle being a VIkings fan for 1 week ...)
Agreed, AlbaNY.
And I would add that there’s something to be said for the momentum that would be gained by closing out the season with winning 5 consecutive games.
