And the reason for that is the Rams have dropoff after their top two wideouts. So being productive running the ball out of those sets gives them the best efficiency with the wideouts they have on the field.
And from there the Rams' TEs who are more the balanced type in blocking/receiving than the pure passing game type can be more efficient because both are good in run blocking but can also hurt teams if overlooked. Higs in particular is a real threat in the seams, wheel routes, etc. Everett is more of an underneath run threat but either way they both are far more efficient in a balanced scheme.
But again actual run game potency is required to allow you to run 12 sets with our personnel. This is a really big development for us and an enormous positive going into the playoffs where defense and a ground game both become more important. If this continues we may see the Rams actually develop a bit more in 12 and get better as Goff starts to feel the benefits of that look.
Overall our offense is not a big play machine because of personnel. But they do have the potential to be a power offense. And if Akers continues this that is exactly what we'll be. Which is the type of team (power offense and top defense) that can go a long way in the playoffs.
