Re: Was Wade Phillips holding back this D last year??

It's more than the players. Wade would just let them play while Staley plays situational football. Staley has also taken what players do well and apply them in different ways. For example Ramsey would never be playing as a *star* defender under Wade. This leads to different looks the Rams' D can show to confuse opposing QBs. But Staley does value different players than Wade. The Terrell Lewis 6'5 262, Justin Hollins 6'5 248 type for OLB, for example. I like how Staley has utilized AD to get more one-on-ones and obviously putting Ramsey in better position to impact plays. Remember the great tackle by Jordan Fuller to stop the Dallas WR and win the game? Fuller hand signaled to Troy Hill that JF would cover the crossing route and TH dropped back like a safety. GREAT play! That one opened my eyes for sure.

Am certain others have more to add but that's my $.02
