He’s only 26 but has already accomplished a lot.
Only had winning seasons since McVay.
Second most wins in league since 2017.
This year will be his 3rd playoffs since 2017. Missed the 4th playoffs in ‘19 because of a missed 44 yard FG by GZ.
Been an NFC champion.
When he’s ‘on’ his ceiling is jaw droppingly high (Viking, Chiefs games in ‘18).
Great teammate.
Nary a whiff of off field issues.
VERY easy to root for. (Love those 4th down sneaks)
Just these last 4 games is his career in a nutshell.
Beats Seahawks
Beats Bucs
Beats the Cards
All 3 are very respected opponents and certainly in the playoff hunt.
But included in that stretch was the 49er clunker where he looked lost for much of the game. The kid is inconsistent and it drives Ram fans nuts. If Goff had not had bad halves against the Dolphins and in both 49er games we would have a record of 10-1 today, IMO.
So, what’s your bottom line? The ‘good Goff’ transcends the bad Goff in my estimation. And hopefully Goff will become more consistent and less confused by new schemes opponents throw at him each week. I’ve already noticed how much he’s improved against the blitz, for example.
Developing a young and talented QB is a complicated thing and McVay himself has stumbled a time or two with game plans, playcalling, and just plain old stubbornness at times.
