We know Goff screwed the pooch in that game - but the defense also failed on the last two drives - both contributed greatly to the loss. Time to move on to the cards - flush this game down the toilet.
The problem is, it seems disingenuous to put blame on the defense when they had a pretty good game. I think it is unfair to expect them to hold opposing teams to 5 points in the second half as a standard. I also think it is fair to expect Goff to not have 3 turnovers in a 3 point game.
They failed on the last two drives but the overall game was a success.
They allowed 16 points in total and scored 7. That's about as good as we're gonna get.
The second reason why there is rightfully more focus on Goff than the defense is because of the implications for the future. The D is a large reason we've been winning. A failure on that side of the ball is clearly an uncommon thing.
OTOH, Goff has been turning the ball over at a rapid rate recently. That's a troubling trend and needs to be corrected if we want to win games in the future.
