I have been a Goff fan, but have to admit I think I've seen enough. He is similar to Jaemeis Winston - lots of natural talent but with way too many turnovers. In fact, he's second only to Winston in the TO department the last few years. You can't wait forever for these guys to 'come around' - they kill coaches and teams, slowly but surely.
However, who do we put under center in 2021? We have no first round pick and college QB's are a crapshoot and usually take a couple years to find a groove, if they ever do. We don't have anyone on the roster now with the arm talent Goff has. Wolford could start and we could try and scratch out 17-13 victories with our defense - but this is not a path for long term success.
What veterans may be available next year? Wentz, Cousins, Newton, Garrapalo? Maybe. Are any of them an upgrade? Forget Dak - we won't be able to afford him and I think Jerry will pay him.
As far as trading Goff - here are the teams that will be looking for a QB next year. There's no way they can all find top talent in the draft, so some may look for veteran help.:
Jacksonville, The Jets, The Washington Football team, The Patriots, Chicago, The Lions, The Vikings (maybe), 49'ers (maybe)
