L.A.Rams
It seemed like a blunder when the Rams drafted Sloman. That choice has indeed proved to be a terrible mistake, and it's disturbing that it seemed to have something to do with nepotism. It's amazing that NFL teams often make bad decisions that are obvious even to fans, such as when the Rams made a series of glaring blunders in 1996 by trading Jerome Bettis, drafting Lawrence Phillips, and selecting Eddie Kennison over Marvin Harrison.
Okay a blunder? Sloman was a 7th round pick. Nepotism? Why, because he went to McVay's alma mater? Seriously? I don't think so. Again, it was a 7th round, that was acquired through trade and Sloman was rated as a very good kicker from Miami of Ohio, who had a great career at that School and again, was drafted in the 7th round. Selecting Phillips & Kennison in the first round were blunders so was Jason Smith, but I disagree here. Keep in mind once again the New England Patriots passed on Blankenship to draft Justin Rohrwasser in the 5th round and ended cutting him and keeping Nick Folk. Was there Nepotism with the drafting of Rohrwasser in New England, because he went to Marshall or played at Rhode Island?
Sloman did not work out, it happens, hopefully, the Rams can find a good kicker. Should they have paid Zuerlein? I think so, but I disagree about a blunder in the 7th round, with all due respect.
