I personally don't care programs." I always have much more interest in coaches who have a feel for things while they're happening. If you're winning, and can win, why "push" a team when the times you tried that backfired. Wait till the offseason to layer that stuff in.

So no I do not believe Goff needs "pushing" and I think it's bad coaching to go against the grain for just some idea you have as a coach. If they're not executing--work on execution. You're the coach, they're your product.

.,..

I wish to clarify one thing while attempting to not come off as argumentative. McVay rarely cites execution as the issue. Out of hundreds of interviews, I've only seen him blame execution twice, and both times were this year after losses to the 9'ers and Dolphins. He uncharacteristically said that the defenses were expected and prepared for but the players didn't execute properly. He still takes responsibility for all of that which is why we've seen a different approach. So, in that you are correct.

However, a static approach that limits the plays is doomed to postseason failure. For years the Patriots have dropped regular season games in puzzling fashion. Any yet, it seems they treated the regular season as a tune up for the post season. This is what I believe McVay wants to do but knows he must throttle back when it's too much.

It's the nature of the NFL that the best teams grow and adapt as well as innovate. This is the push that I'm referencing.

Well I read both our posts again. I agree with what you said earlier--we're not that far apart.

I am not speaking for a static approach though. I just think that if they are more responsive to what teams are doing, that that alone makes a difference. I don't see that as static, but as dynamic.

Truth is, whatever issues WERE there in the Miami game and yet WEREN'T there in the Seattle game, I don't really have a handle on whether they're making progress until I've seen the Tampa game.
