Re: Rams bringing in a new kicker to compete

I dont know why McGinnis didnt get a real shot in the 3 man Kicking Competetion as I was hoping during the offseason after GZ left the Rams would bring McGinnis in. Yes its Semi Pro in the AAF and XFL but they are basically a developmental League like NFL Europe where players like Kurt Warner, Tom Nutten and hate to say Adam Viniteri came from.. I watched him kick GWrs in College, in AAF, XFL. It was the XFL he went 10 for 10. He has a leg and gets the Kick up quickly for a nice trajectory. I watched him practice with a fellow as the holder and he hit every Kick from close range and different hashs and progressively kept backing up kicking longer kicks until he hit a 65 yder with room to spare. He also had nice depth on his Kickoffs. So will this transition to the Pros we shall see, but he has all the qualities to do it. Seen longtime NFL Kicker John Carney helping him who got some playing time with our Rams early in his career. We can only hope ! Cautious Optimism. GO RAMS !
