If the Rams are going to keep him they need to do something this season they can stomach. Otherwise I think he's got a good chance to be snapped up even with that compensation.
I don't see them extending him prior to free agency. They've rarely done that with their RFAs.
I think they put the 1st round tender on him and take their chances. If someone signs him you take the first and draft his replacement who would be under contract for 5 years.
