"as the team of choice."
Depends on whose choosing-right? The "L.A. " faithful has always been problematic in terms of who they faithfully follow right? Truth be told the only team the L.A. fan has followed through thick and thin has been the Raiders. For the most part that is a cultural thing in So Cal with a "tough image" that resonates with the heavily Latino population here. If the Chargers can succeed with Herbert and a new coach they have the make up of a "tough" team-the very image that resonates with the Raider fans. And that will take away the Ram following unless the Rams adopt fast. Herbert's image is he is one tough hombre. That is not what Goff portrays. Fair is irrelevant-what matters is the image. No matter what L.A. will always be a Raider town even if the Raiders never win another game. Go ahead, blame it on immigration-I say it a natural evolution.
And please James-it's not at all about "facts" (i.e. wins and losses)) its about the image of "toughness". The Raiders will always give off the image of "toughness" and the Rams won't. But who cares as long as the Rams win more games than the Raiders or the Chargers right"? . Well_ I'm not so sure about that. Until the Rams and the Chargers can engage the heavy Latino population here , much like the Dodgers have compared to the Angels, they will always be a step behind the Raiders in popularity-even thought the team is headquarters in Vegas. So be it.
This is such a myth and it's been proven multiple times....
When the Rams, Chargers and Raiders were vying for a return to LA it was the Rams who were the clear cut choice
and it wasn't even close as far as fan bases go
Bring Back the Rams had over 70,000 members
Bring Back the Raiders had like 15,000 members
The Chargers had 750 members
Rams fans had a huge rally at the coliseum to show how much we wanted them back....didn't see anylike that for the Raiders and obviously nothing of the sorts for the Chargers
Have you been to a Rams game lately? Half the crowd is Latino
The LA times ran a poll back in 2016 asking what team would most fans want to see come back to LA
Rams had over 70% of the vote
Yes there is still a lot of Raider fans in LA, as there should be considering they won a Super Bowl here, but they are no longer LA's team , especially now that the Rams are actually back in LA and winning unlike the Raiders who have had only
one winning season since 2003
