"as the team of choice."
Depends on whose choosing-right? The "L.A. " faithful has always been problematic in terms of who they faithfully follow right? Truth be told the only team the L.A. fan has followed through thick and thin has been the Raiders. For the most part that is a cultural thing in So Cal with a "tough image" that resonates with the heavily Latino population here. If the Chargers can succeed with Herbert and a new coach they have the make up of a "tough" team-the very image that resonates with the Raider fans. And that will take away the Ram following unless the Rams adopt fast. Herbert's image is he is one tough hombre. That is not what Goff portrays. Fair is irrelevant-what matters is the image. No matter what L.A. will always be a Raider town even if the Raiders never win another game. Go ahead, blame it on immigration-I say it a natural evolution.
And please James-it's not at all about "facts" (i.e. wins and losses)) its about the image of "toughness". The Raiders will always give off the image of "toughness" and the Rams won't. But who cares as long as the Rams win more games than the Raiders or the Chargers right"? . Well_ I'm not so sure about that. Until the Rams and the Chargers can engage the heavy Latino population here , much like the Dodgers have compared to the Angels, they will always be a step behind the Raiders in popularity-even thought the team is headquarters in Vegas. So be it.
