Well, we never got to see what Bortles could do under McVay so I wouldn't necessarily say that Bortles was bad. I mean, if you want to look at it under certain terms, Bortles had a very productive year at one point, much like Goff had that year and half at one point. From '17-KC game of '18, Goff put up 54 TD. Bortles, from '15 - '16 in the same number of games, put up 56 TD. Granted, Bortles had inferior accuracy and more turnovers but he also wasn't in a great offense. But he showed that he could actually produce points.
But, for the Rams, yes, I would like to see a massive upgrade on the QB depth chart. Bring in a guy who needs a change of scenery and has starting potential. Both as insurance and as competition for Goff.
Someone posted that Goff said he needs to get away from it all during the bye and that is really sticking in my craw. As much as he's struggled, I don't think he deserves much time off. That he isn't self-motivated to find and fix the issue is what it looks like and it true, I'm ready to move on from him.
