he wouldn’t be a backup long the locker room wouldn’t allow it
players know when players aren’t good enough. If they added Darnold it would be instantly noticeable
Darnold guys really? We think Darnold is an upgrade over Goff? I would take him as a backup but that may be his ceiling. Next were you guys are talking about James not going to happen. I would take Mariota as a backup.
I am a Darnold fan but I honestly don't know what's been going on in NY. I am inclined to believe that it is a team and coaching issue much more than it's a Darnold issue. I could be wrong but he was not put into a good situation.
Isn't Gase the one who couldn't get anything out of Tannehill? The guy just doesn't seem like a good coach.
As far as the Rams picking up Darnold, I would do it based on sentiment for sure, as far as fit? I'm not so sure. Darnold is creative and athletic and aggressive but I don't know if he would fit into McVay's system. I think it's possible but I just can't say for sure.
Sadly, I think Goff is what he is at this point. He has had plenty of time in the system and relatively decent circumstances to work under and is still struggling. He seems to be a guy that needs ideal situations and a strong running game to succeed and if the Rams are providing that, why do we need to spend so much on Goff? There has to be another Tannehill type or hand-picked rookie that would be WAY cheaper and could do the same job.
I'm just not a fan of Darnold and his game he did have the unfortune of going to the jets and that may have tainted him. But to me he is injured goods both physically and mentally now but who knows. We need a student of the game for mcvay system and Darnold doesn't seem to have the brains or work ethic to make it happen. I could see Mariota being an intriguing pickup because he is mobile, smart, and accurate. He just has injury worries for me.
