And where are you now?
Merlin just nailed this thread, IMO.
Merlin essentially said that we need success rate runs, i.e. runs that keep the chains moving. And he pointed to Football Outsiders metrics that measure that.
Here are the current rankings on the Success Rate, DVOA, and DYAR per Football Outsiders:
Akers: SR: ranked 18th at 52%; DVOA: ranked 27th at -3.1%; DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement): ranked 27th with 30 yards
Henderson: SR: ranked 7th at 57%; DVOA: ranked 3rd at 21.4%; DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement): ranked 6th with 172 yards
Akers and Henderson have different bodies and different styles. Since Akers is bigger he probably is the one most likely to be the work horse although it should be noted that both of them have gotten dinged up to the point they miss games quite a bit.
However, despite the differing styles and bodies, if we're going by measurable results, Henderson is still the superior RB. And FO and PFF both agree on that. Both FO and PFF indicate that Henderson is a top 10 RB.
