but Idk man ...I'm starting to think the Rams just don't throw those kinds of balls
How often to the Rams throw the ball up and allow Higbee, or Reynolds, or Jefferson to go get it... I mean they just don't do it
In fact Goff just doesn't throw many of those kinds of balls at all. Is that Goff or McVay... part of me says its Goff
It's true that Goff doesn't throw "go get 'em" balls, but I think the main reasons are, 1) it's all about "scheming" and "route-running" guys open - and timing - w/this O, and, 2) Reynolds is the only WR they have who *might* have the physical gifts to come down w/anything like a jump ball. (And my guess is that while he has the hops and height, he lacks the strength to win many of those.)
Except for when Kupp or Woods has the ball and is trying to win a race to the endzone, we almost even never see them literally sprinting. As a rule, our guys don't run away from, out-muscle, or out-jump anybody - and JG doesn't expect them to. Higbee is strong enough to out-muscle, but, again, the premium is on scheming guys open and taking what the D provides, not beating defenders physically.
