I understand and respect all the reasons given for going for the 1st down.
But, fwiw, I would have taken the 3 points there. Even said it to my wife before the snap.
Precisely because of my respect for Wilson, btw. Sure enough, he drove his team the length of the field to score the TD. He was a threat to do that no matter which decision Zimmer made.
But he did NOT make the 2 point conversion, did he? It was a bridge too far, even for him. Plus, even if successful it would have still only been a tie.
The FG was the better percentage play, IMO.
All this would have been moot, incidentally, if the Vikings hadn’t given up 21 points earlier in about 5 minutes. THAT was unforgivable and they ultimately paid the price.
