The Rams traded the 45th pick overall to the Bears for the 50th pick and the 150th pick. Bobby Wagner and Mychal Kendrick were both on the board at #45 and the Rams mistakenly thought that at least one of them would still be available at 50. But as we all know ... they weren't.
At 45 the Bears took Alshon Jeffries.
At 46 the Eagles took Kendrick.
And at 47 the Seahawks took Wagner.
Then at 50, the Rams - with egg on their collective faces - settled for Pead.
One of the worst moves on Snead's resume, but one he apparently learned from. Just from analyzing the draft day trades the Rams have made recently it doesn't look like the Rams make trades like that anymore. It seems that if the Rams do trade down 5 spots they only do so when there are 6 guys they like equally as well. Then no matter what happens in the next 5 picks there is guaranteed to be at least one of their guys available when they pick.
