My 3:
1. I expect more blitzing from both defenses and I'm curious how that plays out.
2. Now that our defensive rules are on tape, how does Staley adjust when McDermott exploits weaknesses in the scheme.
3. Will Sean stick with the running game when Buffalo schemes to shut it down?
Now that I've had time to process the game, here is what I have to say on these points.
1.The blitzes by the Bills affected the first half points and McVay made the adjustments in the second half. On defense, we seem reluctant to blitz often and stayed the course. I fear that's our identity and we aren't as adaptable as I hoped. But given the comeback, I won't complain yet. If I were AD, I'd be pissed that I'm the only one making a difference.
2. The exploitation I feared came fo fruition. The read and react approach reminds me more of Peter Giunta and this concerns me. I'd like to see an attack mentality more frequently on defense.
3. Kudos to McVay. I smiled widely when I saw the commitment to the run continue when the team was down big.
